Izegrim was founded in the summer of 1996 from the remains of the well-known Dutch doom/ deathmetalband SOLSTICE, when Joep (drums) teamed up with Jeroen (guitar). Shortly afterwards a completely new order was recruited. Anita (bassguitar & backing vocals), Luderer (keyboard), Kristien (vocals) and Niels (guitar) were added early 1997. In this line-up they recorded and released their first propaganda on tape, called 'Most Evil Demo' in spring 1998. The demo (featuring symphonic deathmetal) was generally received very positively by the media. Late 1998 Luderer decided to leave the ranks of Izegrim because of her job at Dutch metal magazine Aardschok, and the style shifted to death/thrash. In this 5-piece formation they released the self-financed mini-CD 'Bird of Prey' in the summer of 1999. From the start, Izegrim was received very well by both the media and audience at live-gigs. But shortly after the release of 'Bird of Prey', Niels left Izegrim in order to commit himself fully to his other band Goddess of Desire (under the name 'Lord Arydon').
His sudden departure left them badly shaken up, but we never routed. Since the beginning of Izegrim´s existence the band has steadily become an established name in the Dutch metalscene. Their past performances gained them a substantial and steady fanbase through the years. In time to come even greater numbers will be exposed to their raging torrent of Terror Thrash. In november 2002 they released their most recent act of nihilism, called 'Guidelines for Genocide': a death-thrashing omen of doom that is certain to make you crave for an untimely death! Combining old-school Thrash elements, catchy riffing and unconventional themes, we successfully probed new means to thrash. After hitting the stage successfully together with TANKARD, PUNGENT STENCH, HOLY MOSES and many others, Anita gave up her induction in april 2004, and in Marloes they found a new recruit instead.
It is 2005. This summer a new omen of doom has been released upon this mediocre world: ‘New World Order’. They all have been screwed for way too long. ‘New World Order’ was thir wake-up call and is a pre-taster for their upcoming full length. Recordings for the new full length ‘Tribute to Totalitarianism’ started at jun
