The band was formed in 1992, as the Furnace Mountain Boys. Since then the band has morphed and changed breaking new musical ground and forging new friendships along the way. The intention at the heart of the Furnace Mountain still remains, which is the sharing of music as a celebration of life between friends and loved ones alike.
David VanDeventer is from Purcellville, Virginia. He has played with everyone who is anyone in the bluegrass/ jamband genre of music to include Magraw Gap, David Via & the Corn Tornado, Leftover Salmon, Hypnotic Clambake and Keller Williams. Along with local bands like Less Traveled, The Woodshedders and Virginia Coalition. With Furnace Mountain David Weaves a variety of fiddle styles into the music including Appalachian, Celtic, Jazz, and Bluegrass. If you are lucky enough you could hear one of Fiddlin' Dave original songs like Connie Chung or Fiddlin' Shifflet to name a few. A good place to find Dave is pickin' and grinning around a late night camp fire playing some music with his bluegrass buddies, teaching fiddle or violin lessons, or spending time at home with his wife Morgan and their dog Wilma in the small town of Berryville, Va.
Morgan Morrison is from Taylorstown, VA. She started playing, pickin', and singing at a young age with her very musical family. Now she mainly play's the bouzouki, mandolin and guitar. Morgan has a unique and powerful Bouzouki style, and a voice that is rich and soothing. The vocal team of Morrison and Curl has often been compared to that of Alison Krauss and Gillian Welsh. Morgan has done her share of touring as well having played at Telluride, Smilefest as well as in China, Ireland, Estonia, Latvia. Along with playing at numerous front porches, kitchens and living rooms.
Aimee Curl is from Furnace Mountain in Virginia; she plays the bass guitar (electric, acoustic & the stand up or doghouse bass) and sings like an angel. She and Morgan split the vocal duties, singing their own style of Appalachian roots folk music. Aimee can play all types of music, as was the case with her adventures with thamusement. A band from New Mexico who has toured with bands like Dave Ma
