ILEANA's music is as diverse and beautiful as the New Mexico desert she hails from. With a pop voice reminiscent of Jewel and Dido, she sings sultry ballads like "Unworthy" and "Better Than Okay." Her vocal versatility shines through on songs like Secret Sunshine and What R U So Afraid Of where hints of Michelle Branch and Sheryl Crow come through. With a voice described as 'electrically charged velvet,' she creates music that has already garnered a large fan base in the Southwest. ILEANA continues that trend in her current home of Los Angeles by performing songs that reflect unflinching honesty. "Super Ordinary Girl" captures their characters in the moment of awareness- this is who I am right now, for good or bad- and that bare emotion is evident in her voice and lyrics.
ILEANA began her professional career singing lead vocals with the band Ulterior Motive. Despite successful appearances on the radio (104TheEDGE, 94ROCK) and in the EDGE Fest music festival, they disbanded just before they releasing their second LP titled "8minutes and 30 seconds." ILEANA expanded her musical background by fronting the group Passion/Aggression with D. Whitten. This punk group released a two song demo in April (1997) comprised with Whitten's "I Had Another Nightmare" and "Cassandra Speaks," both of which enjoyed radio airtime (104The EDGE).
ILEANA developed her solo set and began playing coffeehouses and other small venues to a rapidly growing audience. Encouraged by her bolstering fan base she recorded a four-song demo in September (1998.)
