This compilation of songs of love and culture by Jahmel are from the past and some are recent. Hence, the LP entitled, “Now and Then.” I do know you will be as excited and thrilled as I am after listening to this LP.
Jahmel was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and migrated to the US at a young age. He was discovered by his producer, Rodale (Andy) Anderson while performing in a dancehall in Rochester, New York. Andy was so impressed with the youth’s talent, that he took him back to Jamaica to record his first LP “Watchful Eyes.” He was backed by the original Wailers Band, featuring the Barrette Brothers, Family Man on Base, and Charlie on drums. The LP did fairly well in Europe, but the lack of promotion hurt the sales and cheated Reggae purists from hearing a masterpiece. The LP “Watchful Eyes” went on to be critically acclaimed in Europe.
The “Now” part of the album was later recorded in Jamaica comprises roots and culture messages for a large audience of Reggae lovers. Click on to the samples to enjoy.
