Recognized for high energy performances and a versatility in style that ranges from hard Be-Bop to smooth R&B, "Saxsmo" has worked with many of the greats in Jazz. He most recently was the featured saxophonist with Larry Carlton. and has perfomed with Walter Davis, Art Blakey, Terri Lynn Carrington, Billy Kilson, Alan Dawson, Walter Bishop Jr., Alex Bugnon, and the Main Ingredient just to name a few.
The new album Produced by James "Saxsmo" Gates and Hannon Lane (Cosby Show, Roy Ayers & Trussel "Love Injection") is a ten song masterpiece of great studio performances by a fantastic group of musicians including Bill McGee (This One's 4U), Carl Lester-El (Bass with Ramsey Lewis), Nate Smith (Drums/Producer/Song Writer - Michael Jackson & Teddy Riley) and vocalist Carlton Blount (Lead singer with The Main Ingredient.)
