Hi Folks, I'm a Portland-based singer/songwriter with a propulsive and theatrical musical style. I create rocky jazzy intelli-pop undulating from the delicate to the dangerous. At the root of my writing lie vivid imagery and impressionistic tales. Driven by melody and a strong rhythmic thrust, lush ballads of hope, disappointment and resolution are interspersed with hard-driving songs that showcase my deeply grooving band.
"Throw Caution" was released in 2000. The Oregonian called it "Pure ecstatic pop with terrific performances."
In November 2003, I released my latest collection of songs on a CD entitled "Chasing Daylight". Recorded in Portland at Kung Fu Bakery, "Chasing Daylight" is a tightly focused collection of nine songs. Engineered and mixed once again by Bob Stark (McKinley, Stephanie Schneiderman, In June, etc), I had a simple goal for the record: I wanted the record to be beautiful, and I wanted to play every guitar part on it as well. Bob and I spent weeks searching for sounds, like sonic miners working rich veins for just the right textures to suit each song.
"Chasing Daylight" was released at a benefit concert Hampton organized for Mercy Corps, the international relief agency based in Portland.
Life is a gift, and music is the wrapping paper. Enjoy!
