A recent review on mp3.com.au said "This woman is amazing. Love the vocals. Love the Lyrics. This Gem is no ruff diamond. She is a Crystal of knowledge and power. She make you just relax and listen to her voice. She commands attention and she gets it. I love her i love her.. Why arent you famous yet? that's o.k. you will be our mp3.com.au secret. "
Jessica performs her songs solo and also plays with her band "Jess and the Paige Boys" - a prominent Melbourne Promoter recently wrote "she has surrounded herself with a great band of professional players who highlight her wonderful voice and songwriting ability."
Jessica started busking on Swanston Street, Melbourne, when she was 14. She released her first EP "Back of Our Minds" in September 2004 and it has collected several songwriting awards, listed below, including a prestigious APRA Songwriter Award.
The band has been getting music festivals bookings and gigs with its sassy songs and charismatic frontwoman. The band's style is a mix of jazz/funk/pop/rock - Jessica has been influenced by artists and bands that are strongly melodic and lyric-driven..like Billy Joel, Elton John, Rufus Wainwright, Simon and Garfunkle, Sheryl Crow and Stevie Wonder. Her own father is a master singer/songwriter, vocalist and guitar player (Steve Romig).
Some comments on the songs from her EP : - "Very nice sultry voice, vocal phrasing is on the money, with impressive lyrical melodies that draw the listener in.. a moving array of dynamic balance. I expect a promising future with a talent such as this. "
"... an incredible voice, those bluesy phrases.. some of the vocals blew me away. .. very talented."
" I love "Hate's A BAby". It got me hooked from the instant I heard it.... it builds up to the bloody awesome solo. It has a lot of emotion and I could really 'feel' it."
"What a find! I visited Jessica's site and found a song called "Sam." I loved it. This song has everything. It starts out soft and sweet and then leads into a chorus that makes you tingle. It is very sweet and has meaning. It's about a boy who dies from an illness. Her music is very mat
