Having spent time at great retro studios (SUMA, the Sound of Music) making albums that were never quite right, song-writer Lincoln Morris decided to record and release an EP (Hand-Off Volume 1) for his newest band Lamont Skylark on his own. They pressed, sold and handed off a thousand copies. Based on the response the guys kept up the experiment and ended up with a heep of songs and tracks stored on various CDRW's, Zip Disks, and hard drives. After months of over-dubbing and mixing the project needed a conclusion, it needed a final mix. The solution was to turn it into a digital/analog hybrid and take it to the Sound of Music in Richmond, VA for treatment. Alan Wheatherhead was enlisted. He has worked with Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse), Archers of Loaf, and had just completed work on Trailer Bride's latest project. They decided the best course of action would be to dump all the digital tracks to 2 inch tape and mix it to half inch tape for mastering. Two days later the mixes where done and shipped to CA to be mastered by John Golden. So after a year Lamont Skylark has played over one hundred shows with the likes of Cigar Store Indians, the Avett Brothers, the Dynamite Brothers, Last Train Home (to name a few) and wrote and recorded what is a truly unique and inspired album.
