Rip has come a long way since his humble begginings in a small town deep in West Virginia, to become one of the top rockabilly acts in the world.
Rip has been called "The Real Deal". Being raised in the south with a family history firmly rooted in rockabilly and country music. His great uncle Bill Matthews had a few singles out on Dot Records in the mid 50s. Rip was born and raised in Madison, West Virginia. In 1992 his parents decided to move to San Diego, California for job opportunities. Upon arrival he found many young musicians that were interested in rock n' roll. He started his own rockabilly group in 1996. This group was called Rip Carson & The Twilight Trio. Shortly after their formation they were signed as the second act for the resurgence of Ronny Weiser's famous Rollin' Rock record label. The debut album was greeted with rave reviews, and it helped spawn the authentic rockabilly movement that now exists in Southern California. After a successful 4 years with the trio, the band called it quits and went their separate ways.
Rip is now performing as a solo artist whose records are filled with top notch studio musicians. Rip's 2002 release, "Box Set:the Singles Collection", is hailed as the best rockabilly record released since Big Sandy's seminal album "On the Go". His newest album, "My Simple Life", which has just been released, showcases the darker side of Rip's songwriting. But still has plenty of uptempo rockabilly numbers to get you up and dancing.
