Equally improvised and precomposed, the solo features a wide display of rhythmic intricacies, including elaborations in complex subdivisions of 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9, and highlights the stunning tonalities of the mridangam.
Blending the rich percussive styles of a host of Indian drums like the tabla, tavil, and khanjira, as well as the legendary techniques of past masters of Indian percussion, Rohan creates a refreshing and inimitable style on the mridangam.

About Rohan:
Acclaimed an “international performer and promoter” of the South Indian drum, the mridangam, by USA Today, 19-year-old Rohan Krishnamurthy has performed in numerous Indian classical concerts in India and North America since the age of nine with leading Indian musicians. Today, he is considered a young celebrity in the Indian Music scene.
Having received initial training on the mridangam in the US and continuing advanced study in India, Rohan has collaborated in cross-musical ventures with well-known symphony orchestras, jazz ensembles, etc., and has presented several Indian percussion summer camps, workshops, academic lecture-demonstrations, and outreach events throughout the US.
