Sales of billions upon billions of music related items through the years give evidence to this. There are times when the love of music becomes a passion - a determined dream transcending any other. Scott Mann, a singer/songwriter and acoustic musician from Fort Worth, Texas understands this drive. Scott's determination to succeed in music was grafted into his family tree years ago. His grandmother and her family grew up during the depression years in a small north Texas town. The family of five children worked hard to get by and music was a major escape from the dark times. Scott's grandmother inherited the old family piano. When he was small Scott was awed by his grandmother being able to make music with that big old black instrument. They sat for hours singing and playing old hymns. Scott's grandmother died in 1990, but Scott did not forget the music. His senior year of high school Scott was the lead singer in a local band. During the next few years Scott performed in a couple of garage bands and released two independent CD's. He Married, divorced and had a son. Music ministered to Scott through the heartbreak of his marriage ending. He says, "music became my therapy-a place to tell my hurt to." Today, Scott is a solo artist. Musical peers refer to him as "the love song balladeer", and his music is compared to the music of James Taylor, David Gray,David Wilcox, and Chris Issack. Music critics describe his voice as, "the most soulful they ever have heard."
Scott served on the Board of Directors of the Fort Worth Songwriter's Association for the past two years, and has also given over 100 performances each year. Recent performances include the Grapefest Wine and Music Festival in Grapevine, Texas, in September, 2003. In October 2002, Scott performed at the Fort Worth Fall Arts and Music Festival at Sundance Square in Fort Worth, Texas. In November of 2002 he performed at the North Texas New Music Festival in the Deep Ellum Arts District of Dallas, TX. In the spring of 2003 Scott toured California on the "acoustic road show", in which he performed at over five locations in a week's period of time across California and Nevada.
