We forgot half of our lyrics and messed up on every song. It didn't matter. The crowd loved it. Whatever else we lacked that night, we had apparentally gotten top scores in the category that mattered most: Energy.
Since that show we've learned to entertain the crowds with a full spectrum of assets: by giving each instrument a chance to shine, by incorporating hip-hop skits between songs, by juxtaposing nuclear seriousness with do-see-do lightheartedness, by celebrating birthdays and rapping in support of referendum C and D, and by delivering new bells and whistles at every show. But even as each performance has taken us to new heights, we have never forgotten the lesson of the first show: If we're having fun, the audience will too.
Based on the feedback we're getting, they are. One fan thanked us for "making me cry while shaking my booty". Another said that the show left her "really wanting to have a conversation". Still another told us before the show that she would punch us in the crotch if we didn't rock it. She remained in the front the entire time and our crotches remained unpunched.
In addition to headlining our own shows, the Flobots have opened for 2Mex, The Alkaholiks, Matson Jones, Yo Flaco!, and the Mercury Project. On October 8th, nine months after the band was concieved, we birthed our first EP, "Flobots present....Platypus". Our CD release show sold out, and our CD sales in the first week put us at #1 on Twist & Shout's bestseller list.
The Flobots are on a mission to bring you music that makes you laugh, think, dance, and be a better person. We are going somewhere, and we invite you to come with us.
