Seattle songwriter and filmmaker Michael Sanchez started The Way It Is as a side project in 1997. He's performed in several bands including Watership Down with his brother David (The Game Over, Life in Stereo) and The New Death Show with Davidson Burnam (Land! Bravo, Katherine Hepburn's Voice). He and Davidson reformed The New Death Show in 2002 after relocating to Seattle from New York City. They continue to record and tour with Seattle as their home.
