ARTIST BIO
COLORADO-BASED SINGER/SONGWRITER, TIM HANAUER, STARTED OUT AT THE AGE OF 17. Recently, the prolific artist has been making up for lost time. His accomplishments in the passed three months include a song placement on The Ghost Whisperer on CBS PRIMETIME; earning the first track spot on the Mountain Homegrown Volume IV compilation from Denver’s KQMT radio station; and releasing his debut record, Boomerang.
“The first song I ever taught my self how to play was Nirvana’s ‘Come as you are,’” Tim recalls. “My little sister got a cheap guitar for her birthday and I played it until it broke a week later. It wasn’t until I graduated from high school that I got my $100 pawnshop Alvarez as a gift from my dad and his husband. It was his husband, Faren, who taught me the basics of good songwriting: hooks, choruses, bridges. Then, after high school, I moved out of my mom’s house and into my dad’s basement. I became nocturnal. For a couple of months, all I did was write songs, eat ice cream and watch old Star Trek reruns with my dad.”
Tim was writing songs the day he received his first guitar. “It’s an addiction. I can admit it, but I can’t overcome it. I’ve always been a thoughtful, reflective sort of person. In high school, I wore old corduroy sports coats, carried my books in an external frame backpack, and wrote romantic poe
