It was through her early collaborations with Rollo that Vicky developed an interest in dance music and spent the next few years writing and performing for a variety of projects, covering the spectrum from techno to trip-hop. During this time, Vicky’s intimate voice and inventive lyrics featured on numerous commercial and underground releases for labels such as Sapho, Rhythm Thief, Profile Records and, most recently, Kinky Vinyl.
After several years of recording, keen to develop her strengths as both a singer and songwriter, Vicky decided it was time for a change in direction. Gathering together like-minded musicians, she formed a band and began performing live in many of London’s acoustic venues, enjoying and exploring her newfound freedom to evolve. Vicky’s music continues to change, but still the memorable chorus melodies betray Vicky’s lingering fondness for the infectious hook – just as the witty, soulful lyrics that slink through each verse reflect Vicky’s adamant belief that songs, like stories, should have something to say.
