hey all at Groupie Tunes--
Just wanted to let you know that even though Carrie and I were sounding and feeling great as the Bombshell duo, as luck/fate would have it we have met a girl who is destined to be our new THIRD! Her name is Jessica Waltz---a beautiful 20 year old Lower East Side New York singer who hails from Nashville! (Which is someplace that Bombshell plans on going--)
Jessica plays 'catch up' this week with manager/arranger Fish and then hopefully she'll be onboard soon!
Melanie 'Shell'~~~~~~
Today Bombshell (the lilting Carrie Welling, the melodious Melanie Klaja)have been chosen to perform at The OS National Band Search in New York City----might as well put this on your calendar now---Friday August 18th at 9pm at Love/Sexy Rock and Roll at Blacguards Restaurant 8th west 38th Street between 5th and 6th!!
here's the main reason I'm writing:
BOMBSHELL right under our nose?--
Seems that one of the waitresses that carrie works with, a blonde 5'8 stunner with powerful vocal lungs, has recently been improvising harmonies with Carrie to the delight of customers!
Umm...........we are looking for a third?
The audition is a go for sometime next week.......very tough spot to fill now because the terrain has been fully claimed---it was easier 15 months ago when this whole Bombshell thingy started on a whim.......anyways---it's here and only here on the ONLY ONLINE/OFFLINE club for bands: Groupie Tunes that you will hear how the audition went!!
Fish--Bombshell handler-
![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Okay, Groupie Tunes.....I see it now....you are the future of bands being able to connect to their fans ONLINE while the musicians and singers are actually offline making music.....in theory musicians can upload photos, blogs and video on the fly--as it happens---in the real world.....from their mobil phone............very cool!
Hi everyone, this is Fish Altieri, the manager of NEW YORK's own female Alt-folk act BOMBSHELL!
In keeping with the spirit of this online-reality-show concept called GT's--- Bombshell is going to let it all hang out.....errr......not literally but metaphorically....(maybe literally at a gig if there are enough shots of Bahama Mama's being served)
Anyway--we have a big announcement to make-
This is the kind of announcement that is usually deemed highly negative. While it does come with a certain sense of melencholy for the girls--it is made with an air of great things to come---the end of one era and the beggining of another.
After 15 months of our existence---one of the founding members of Bombshell has decided to move on.
Amy Palant, 27, whose amazing vocals gave Bombshell some of its most emotional moments has decided to move on. She leaves her sisters not with a burned bridge but with the happiest memories. I also want to add that in all my years of working with bands Amy's departure was handled in the most mature responsible fashion. She finished out her gig commitments, continues supporting the new Bombshell Album of which she is an intergral part and has offered her help and friendship in any way.
Here’s where it gets confusing but not really if you understand the friendship, sisterhood and love between us four---- Amy may even hop aboard a showcase we do if necessary. Basically Amy becomes the “neil young” in our Crosby, Stills and Nash. I’m also almost positive that she will make surprise appearances on stage with us from time to time. It's a new movement in the New York City Indie scene it's called being mature and responsible about things.....I can only hope this new trend is catching on in other states......
IN THE MEANTIME BOMBSHELL FORGES AHEAD AS DUO!!! Carrie Welling, 21 and Melanie Klaja, 25 have formed a super tight bond! We have a batch of new very upbeat, very emotional songs based on what the girls are experiencing in the here and now of that toddling town known as New York!!
The new Album still represents! Reviews have been amazing--
and great news on the tour front:
Carrie and Mel head to the NEMO Music Fest in Boston in September and The National Association for Campus Activities Mid Atlantic Showcase in late October!!
Will Bombshell seek a new third?? Yes, we are gently surfing and posting the famous Craig's List for that......but we won't stop moving ahead!
Stay Tuned for REALITY DOESN'T BITE Part Two!!
Don't you just hate when indie groups relentlessly plus their upcomg show as if its the most important thing going on in New York City? I agree.
Oh...umm......by the way.............
TONITE!! TONITE!!

Oh way---what a way to experience Ground Zero for the first time.......Bombshell, that's me (Carrie) Amy and Melanie made our way down to Broadway and Ceder to appear on The Joey Reynolds Radio Show.....as we pulled up we realized the new WOR-AM studios we're right next to this hallowed site.....we paused, 3am....and took in the scope of it all........we looked up to the sky and could imagine how tall it was.......on our new album "Bombshell-Everything/Nothing" we have a song called Tuesday Nine One One.....what a site..........
The show went great...we performed two songs "When I Grow Up" and "half of you" from the album---we also plugged this very cool site Groupie Tunes as much as we could as Joey shamelessly flirted with us!! LOL---

Bombshell is us---Carrie Welling, 21-Melanie Klaja, 25-Amy Palant, 27. The group does all original material. We call it Alt-Folk. The emphasis is on the harmony! We are based in New YAWK City!
Groupie Tunes is a perfect fit with us because at the moment it doesn't get any more indie than us girls---
Groupie Tunes lets us concentrate on the music--
WHAT YOU'VE MISSED SO FAR (Subtitle: Bombshell in a nutshell)
1. On April 26th 2005 we first sang together.
2. The group was introduced by our crazy manager Fish Altieri who was working with us all seperatly----Ummmm.....not in the biblical sense----you know! Making music!
3. "Thank God they got along" is how Fish put it when we started singing together officially.
4. We started playing successful shows all over the New York City---and we kept getting call backs---which was cool because we weren't sure how people would react to our particular blend and sound----
5. Are you a group? Maybe we can do a show together at one of the many places we played already; Kenny's Castaways/The Bitter End/Alphabet Lounge/Ace of Clubs/Starving Artist Gallery/ICU Bar/Rockwood Music Hall/CODA/Laila Lounge/Pete's Candy Store/Sidewalk Cafe/Choice and many more....
6. Our album "Bombshell-Everything Nothing" is finally complete----
7. In the middle of recording the album the sprinkler system in the studio busted causing a flood that halted production.
8. Like most musicians in New York City we survived the good and the bad and we perservere.
Please tune in to our page for daily Blogs, video and photos direct from Bombshell Groupie Tunes phones!!
Luv~~~ Melanie c/o Bombshell
